Video Intern (Summer 2021)

HubSpot is looking for a video intern to join our team and make an impact on the marketing, sales, and service community. You should be: a multifunctional and highly passionate film, journalism, marketing, or communications student who can create compelling digital video content. You have a knack for working with teams, and a desire to learn about video production from a large team of producers, cinematographers, motion designers, and editors. 

This intern would support one of the creative team’s top plays in 2021 of creating sustainable assets, templates, and tools for marketers to make better video work that’s on brand. This intern would support those initiatives and make a significant impact on our entire marketing department’s needs.

This person will report to the Motion Design Lead, sit on a team of talented editors and producers, and partner with our brand infrastructure marketing team. They will focus on producing photo and video shoots, and creating scalable solutions for other editors on our team to make following the HubSpot brand easier. The ideal candidate will have a passion for brand and how to create systems that make it easier to follow.

This is a full-time, remote position from June-August 2021.

In this role, you’ll get to:
  • Ideate, create, shoot, and edit videos for our various channels
  • Create animated templates for other marketers to use
  • Support the producer in organizing small scale shoots, including helping out with casting, location scouting, props sourcing, and hiring external support
  • Learn how to use best practices when shooting interviews
  • Learn how to think about editing as a narrative tool instead of just cutting clips
  • Learn how to integrate better foundational principles and practices into their animations
  • Become an expert in the HubSpot brand and the point of views we aim to share with our customers

We’re looking for someone who:
  • is proficient in Premiere and After Effects
  • has basic knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop
  • is team oriented, while also having the ability to work alone
  • is deadline driven with the ability to communicate effectively with teammates
  • has a positive attitude and passion for learning
  • has the ability and willingness to work with many personalities and experience levels
 
Former video interns at HubSpot have gone on to work at some of the best studios and publications in the business, including Buzzfeed and Netflix. Interns here get to work with a team of editors, motion designers, cinematographers, and producers to get a well rounded look at the entire industry, rather than being cornered into one discipline. Interns will leave with a solid understanding of the variety of roles, how to work on set, how to level up their own videos, and how to become a valuable associate editor for their first gig after college.

Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a college/university program, through August 2021.
  • Full-time availability (remote, 40 hours/week) from June-August 2021.
  • Please provide a video reel or portfolio along with your application. Clearly explain which videos you made, and what aspects of each were you were responsible for (vs. your colleagues).
